General Information

Cambodia lies between the Tropic of Cancer and the Equator. The country has a warm and humid climate throughout the year with an average temperature of 28.5C. There are two main seasons: the dry season and the rainy season. The region of the large plains streches from the north-west of the country to the south-east and is important agricultural land, particularly for rice growing .

The eastern plateau shields the country from the effects of various storms and squalls. The great Tonle Sap lake is a natural basin hosting a great diversity of river fishes, including the last fresh water dolphins. More than 80% of the total population generates their income from farming, using traditional methods and rudimentary tools.

Political regime: constitutional monarchy

Language: the official language is Khmer. English is often spoken in big cities and in the world of business. Other Language such as Japanese, German, Spanish, Italian, Chinese, and Thai are also studied in private schools.
